Q: What motivates you to share your love of books and/or candles?

A: I am the type of person who finds something that I love, and I soak it up with my whole being. It becomes a part of my identity as it takes residence in my heart. Books and candles are both things that bring me so much joy. How could I not want to share that joy with everyone that I know? Anyone that knows me knows how extremely nerdy that I am, and nothing makes me happier than when I can get someone else to love the thing that I already love so much. Finding friends to fangirl with you is one of the best feelings in the world.

Q: What are you currently reading/watching? Why do you recommend it?

A: I am currently reading An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson! Those who know me know I love the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas, and it very much gives me those vibes (at like half the length lol). So if you are like me and constantly having to stop yourself from abandoning your tbr to reread ACOTAR, definitely check it out! In terms of tv shows, I'm currently watching Voltron! If you love fun sci-fi squads, you'll love this show! I started watching it after I finished the Dragon Prince and She-Ra (multiple times whoops), so if you like either of those shows, you will love Voltron, too! I will also always recommend Brooklyn Nine-Nine because it my favorite show of all time! If you love shows like The Office, Parks and Rec, or Community, you will love B99!

Q: Which scents/designs is your favorite? (describe)

A: Y'all. I'm torn between 2 different candles. I used to say that my absolute favorite candle was the Night Court candle. Now it's a tie between the Night Court Candle and Leather Books. Both are so good in their own ways! Not only do they both have beautiful designsbut they also smells amazing! The label for Night Court says it smells like jasmine and sea breeze. I would say that is very accurate. The jasmine gives you a soft floral scent without being overpowering. Whatever they used to make the sea breeze smell adds such a refreshing touch to its scent. Leather Books, on the other hand, has that wonderful old books smell! The main notes include oakmoss, amber, and leather. It's a common book nerd thing to like to sniff books right? (lol) It's like that but better honestly! It's another refreshing scent, and I love it so much. Burning either disperses such a lovely, refreshing, and comforting aroma to the room. Both have the perfect amount of scent strength, lite but definitely recognizable. If I'm having a rough day, I simply light one of these candles, and it brightens my day (pun intended lol).

Q:  Why do you like to burn candles?

A: There is just something just so dang peaceful about burning candles. It's an instant mood booster. It’s also always a good time to burn a candle. Are you feeling down? Light a candle! Are you having a wonderful day? Light a candle, and your day will be that much better! Feeling stressed or anxious? Light a candle! Ya know what I mean?

Q:  Which fandom is your favorite, and why? (even if it's one we don't have scents for)

A: I'm torn. On one hand, I am obsessed with SJM books. However, I've been such a big Harry Potter for the longest time! I grew up reading the books, and I'm always down for a Harry Potter movie marathon. It's one of the fandoms that is pretty much universally loved and has snuck its way into basically every other fandom. Think about it, what is one thing that we love to do with characters in a book/tv/movie? Sort them into a Hogwarts house! I love being able to ask people what their Hogwarts house is. (In case you were wondering, I am a Hufflepuff!) I could talk to someone about Harry Potter for hours.

Q:  What are you looking forward to in 2019?

A: My sister is getting married in August!!!! I'm so excited for her, and I am extra excited to be her maid of honor! My family is going to make a whole trip of it, so it should be so fun! I can't wait to celebrate her (and her fiancé too of course). She is one of the sweetest people on this planet, and I just want her to have the best time at her wedding! :)

Q: What motivates you to share your love of books and/or candles?

A: I have always had a love/obsession with books and reading. My dad would always light a candle for me when I was little and I would snuggle into my reading nook to dive into the new reality I was reading at the time. I would completely immerse myself into the novel as the warming scent surrounded me. I've always wanted others to have that same love and feeling. As my son ages, I want him to share my love too.

Q: What are you currently reading/watching? Why do you recommend it?

A: I am currently reading 4 different books right now. I grab whichever fits the mood I am in. I'm reading Unf*ck Yourself by Gary John Bishop, Pillow Thoughts by Courtney Peppernell, The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton and Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I would recommend each of these books for different reasons, for different people. If you want to get out of the funk you're in read Unf*ck Yourself. If you want to dive into your own thoughts and emotions, read Pillow Thoughts. If you want an escape into a different world, read The 7 1/2 Deaths and if you want to travel back in time while learning about yourself, read Where The Crawdad Sings.

Q: Which scents/designs is your favorite? (describe)

A: My favorite will forever be the House Loyalty NerdArt candle. Be still my Hufflepuff heart forever. We are a family full of badgers here.

Q: Why do you like to burn candles?

A: As an occupational therapist, we talk a lot about sensory systems and thresholds. Olfactory (smell) is a way to calm my body. To relax my physical tensions and on high alert emotions. To soothe my postpartum anxiety. To be myself again.

Q: Which fandom is your favorite, and why? (even if it's one we don't have scents for)

A: Harry Potter will forever be my favorite fandom. HP sparked my love for reading. I grew up with the characters and every time I re-read the series in different stages of life, I learn something new that I hadn't before.

Q: What are you looking forward to in 2019?

A: I'm looking forward to creating a reading nook for myself as well as my son. One that includes a snuggly blanket, our favorite books and our favorite scents.

Q: What motivates you to share your love of books and/or candles?

A: Literature has always been a way for me to escape into new worlds, and that's something I want other people to experience -- you can be curled up on the couch and a million miles at the same time, and that is so beautiful to me. I also feel like there's a book for everything... there's a book to comfort you in times of hardship and sorrow, books to make you laugh, books to make you cry, and books to help you grow. The choices are endless. That's something I also love about candles. There's a scent for every occasion, and candles can also bring joy and comfort... especially when you light one, grab a book, a cup of tea, and curl up to spend a day transported.

Q: What are you currently reading/watching? Why do you recommend it?

A: I'm currently rereading the Harry Potter series. I'm on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows again, and I'm loving it as much as I ever have. I grew up with this series and revisiting it is so fun and exciting. I recommend everyone reads or rereads these books because they are full of lessons that are true at any age.  My little Ravenclaw heart can't get enough rereads!

Q: Which scents/designs is your favorite? (describe)

A: I love We're All Mad Here. The smell of almonds reminds me of my childhood (mom's perfume), and I looked a long time for the perfectly-scented almond candle. I was so excited to find it at Highland Bluff Studio! I also really love House Intelligence. I'm such a Ravenclaw that the scents of black tea and incense quickly became one of my favorites.

Q: Why do you like to burn candles?

A: I love the coziness of candles. I don't think you can ever have too many because there are so many scents to try to set the mood and atmosphere you want. I love filling my home with different fragrances that fit my mood.

Q: Which fandom is your favorite, and why? (even if it's one we don't have scents for)

A: My favorite fandoms are Harry Potter and Disney. I grew up with both and I really feel like they are both so magical and full of hope and happiness. I also really admire the way that J.K. Rowling world builds and continues to develop and expand the Wizarding World.

Q: What are you looking forward to in 2019?

A: There is so much that I'm looking forward to this year, but I am especially excited about this summer. I'm moving to a new home, I have my summer reading picked out, I have a few trips planned, and I can't wait to Disneyland day trips. I also get to spend my summer working with this amazing HBS team and sharing some of my favorite products, which I'm really excited about!

Q: What motivates you to share your love of books and/or candles?
A: It started out as way for me express my passion for reading and all of my favorite fandoms and has quickly become a place where I get to interact with readers from all over the world about our favorite books! I have made incredible friends through the Bookstagram community and I love fangirling with them! It gives me the greatest joy when I recommend books to my followers and they read and love it.

Q: What are you currently reading/watching? Why do you recommend it?
A: I am currently reading Once & Future and it is equal parts hilarity and adventure. It is a gender-bent retelling of King Arthur and includes a cast of lovable characters. So yes, I would recommend it.

Q: Which scents/designs is your favorite? (describe)

A: So many! I love vanilla based scents and clean, fresh and floral scents as well. My favorite design of ours is definitely your Harry Potter Collection, the Bravery design speaks to my soul.

A: Harry Potter! I grew up with HP and I still love it to this day and I rewatch the movies every year and try to do rereads when I can! Other than HP, I am obsessed with all of Brandon Sanderson books. He is one of my all time favorite authors and has changed my reading tastes drastically.

A: Great reads, fun times traveling and making new memories.

Shelby Bubenchik, OKLAHOMA , IG: @_shelby_reads

Q: What motivates you to share your love of books and/or candles?

A: My motivation for sharing my love of books is mainly to connect with people who share the same interests and to make new friends! I love to shout my love of my favorite authors and their books from the rooftops as much as possible. I also love sharing my love of bookish candles because it helps me support and promote my favorite small businesses and their owners!

Q: What are you currently reading/watching? Why do you recommend it?

A: I’m currently reading an indie release called Young Power by Andrea Blythe Liebman, and it’s a YA fantasy novel about humans living in the modern-day world with gods and goddesses while being caught in their war between the Pure and the Dark gods. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s a mythology junkie like me!

Q: Which scents/designs is your favorite? (describe)

A: My favorite scents are pretty much all over the place; I love autumnal scents (apple, pumpkin, clove), bubbly, fruity scents (such as Giggle Water, which is one of my favorite scents ever), and any scent that involves tea.

Q: Why do you like to burn candles?

A: I like burning my candles for a few different reasons, one of them being they can bring about a sense of nostalgia, especially the autumn-scented candles. Give me a spiced-apple candle with a hint of pumpkin and I’m instantly transported back to when I was a little girl, taking trips to my favorite pumpkin patch. I also to love burn them while I’m reading, and I try to correlate the scents to what I’m reading at the time.

Q: Which fandom is your favorite, and why? (even if it's one we don't have scents for)

A: Not to sound cliché, but my favorite fandom of all-time has to be Harry Potter. I’ve met so many good friends by connecting through the magical world of J.K. Rowling over the span of a decade, and I will forever hold it dear to my heart.

Q: What are you looking forward to in 2019?

A: The biggest thing I’m looking forward to in 2019 is continuing to grow my own small business, and making a big move from Oklahoma to North Carolina!
